Taskcards

Virtual boards for individual and collaborative work

TaskCards for lecturers at the University of Oldenburg: https://uol.taskcards.app/ (registration required)!

What are TaskCards?
TaskCards allow teachers to create virtual boards on which they can – together with their students – collect texts and media. Virtual boards are a versatile teaching tool for supporting teaching and learning processes regardless of time and location. A TaskCard can consist of texts, images, links and various file attachments (similar to Padlet). The boards are private and can be made public via a link. Please ensure that you do not publish any personal data on publicly accessible boards.

Why TaskCards?
The platform runs on German servers and is GDPR-compliant (it is, in a way, a data protection-compliant alternative to Padlet). The University of Oldenburg is making a total of 200 licences available to teaching staff until December 2030, allowing each teacher to create an unlimited number of boards.

How can teachers at the University of Oldenburg obtain a TaskCards licence?
To receive login details for https://uol.taskcards.app/, please contact the Teaching and Learning in Higher Education(Hochschuldidaktik) at
. We will set up an account for you and you will receive an email containing an invitation link, which you can use to register at https://uol.taskcards.app/ with a username and password. The licence will then be linked to an account at https://uol.taskcards.app/

Please note: If you are already registered at https://www.taskcards.de/ using the same email address, this account will remain unaffected by any changes. This means that the licence for creating an unlimited number of boards does not apply there. Any boards already created via that URL will still be available there.

What types of boards are available on TaskCards?

Bulletin board (Pinnwand): On the bulletin board, the cards are arranged in columns.

Timeline: On the timeline, the cards are placed on a horizontal line.

Board: On the board or whiteboard, the cards can be placed anywhere and linked together like a mind map.

World map: Here, pins or cards can be placed on a world map.

Blog: On the blog, the cards are displayed one below the other.

How can I use TaskCards in my teaching?

You can use TaskCards for:

  • brainstorming and collaborative mind mapping (e.g. to note down ideas and contextualise them)
  • an anonymous collection of questions (e.g. to gather queries about seminar content)
  • an asynchronous round of introductions (e.g. each participant gets a column to introduce themselves)
  • digital weekly schedules showing tasks and to-dos
  • providing additional resources for courses (e.g. videos, links, texts, PDFs)
  • class glossary (e.g. collaboratively defining terms)
  • the consolidation of various learning materials (e.g. videos, links, texts, PDFs)
  • online collaboration between students (e.g. presenting results of group work)
  • a central, digital record of learning outcomes (e.g. each student notes down a key takeaway at the end of session; or: at the beginning of each session, students gather keywords summarising what they took away from the previous lecture)
  • documentation, organisation, presenation project work (e.g. a mini-portfolio)
