Interconfessional theological working group

Next date

10/11 January 2025, St. Ursula Adult Education Centre, Erfurt

Profile of the working group

Experiencing the diversity and complexity of Christian theology by working on selected topics in an interdenominational setting - that is the intention of this working group. The members of ITA come together in their capacity as academically working theologians, but not as representatives of their church.

In a working style that emphasises communication and encourages experimentation, ITA cultivates an academic theological culture in which the plurality and difference of the various theological traditions and perspectives are experienced as a reassurance and also as a critical challenge. The working group complements both mono-confessional academic theological societies and specific ecumenical theological working groups.

The one-and-a-half-day conferences take place annually and are prepared by a rotating team. Smaller research groups are formed independently of the conference dates. Interested doctoral candidates are very welcome to attend the conferences.
