The seaFAST pico (ESI, Elemental Scientific) allows the automated preconcentration of trace elements from seawater. For the first time, we can now measure rare earth element concentrations in as little as 10 mL of seawater, which previously required 100-1000 mL samples (see Behrens et al., 2016).
