KinderCampus
KinderCampus
An adventure day for the whole family to celebrate the university's 50th birthday
Discover, try out, join in, marvel and play - that's the motto of the KinderCampus. The university cordially invites you and your families to join us on 20 April between 10.00 and 16.30.
There will be a welcome event for parents and children at 10.00 am in the Audimax in building A14. You can download the entire programme here. All programmes are free of charge.
Please note: You must register in advance for some of the activities if you want to take part. This also applies to the three exciting short lectures in the university's largest lecture theatre, which are aimed at schoolchildren aged between eight and twelve. Registration is now open.
You can find photos of the event in our picture gallery. Have a look!
Lectures
There is so much to explore in the world. This year at the KinderCampus, you can find out how birds keep finding their way, how we learn a language and why we should fly to the moon. Three exciting lectures await you in the Audimax - our largest lecture theatre. Please register for the individual dates.
If you can't get one of the seats, you can watch a live broadcast of the lectures in our library hall (no registration required).
More about the programme
You will not only gain insights into the exciting world of science during lectures. You can try out interesting things in many different places on our campus.
For example, have you ever been to an improvisation theatre, done a rally through a library or written with a pen? No? Then look forward to an exciting discovery tour.
"The blind fish"
Rousing rock music, groovy rap, funny and thought-provoking lyrics: We were able to win over the well-known children's band "Die Blindfische" for our family day! The band will play a short concert after each of the three lectures.
Parents or accompanying adults are responsible for the supervision of children during all KinderCampus activities. The only exception to this are the lecture times in the Audimax.
Frequently asked questions
Here you will find answers to the most important questions. If you have any other concerns, you can contact us by email. Feel free to write to us at
Where does the KinderCampus take place and how do I get there?
On this day, the Haarentor campus becomes a children's campus. Many of the offers can be found in building A14, our lecture theatre centre in the photo. The address is Uhlhornsweg 86 in 26129 Oldenburg.
The easiest way to get there is by bike. There are many bicycle stands in front of the building. There are also bus routes 306 and 310 to the university. Coming by car? There are plenty of car parks at buildings V02 and V04 in Ammerländer Heerstraße 136 -138. There is another car park in building A55 at Haarenfeld 16, from where you can walk to the lecture hall centre.
The rooms are well signposted, so you can't get lost. However, we are always there for you and will show you the way. You can recognise us by the black T-shirts with the golden 50 or the yellow waistcoats.
I am not yet 8 years old, can I still come to the KinderCampus?
Of course! The age indication 8 to 12 years is only a recommendation for attending the lectures. But you can also experience a lot here.
Are adults allowed to attend lectures in the Audimax?
The seats in the lecture theatre are reserved for you children. Parents and accompanying persons are welcome to use the time for a break - e.g. with a coffee in the cafeteria. There will also be a live broadcast of the lectures in the library lecture theatre. Here, children can follow the lecture together with the adults.
You are welcome to attend most of the other events together with your parents.
The offers requiring registration on the website are already fully booked. Can I still come?
It's always worth taking a look at the fully booked events. Maybe there is still a place available.
Hunger & thirst
Of course we have also thought of that. The Studentenwerk Oldenburg will be opening the cafeteria for you from 10.00 to 16.30. Here you can buy drinks, cakes and ice cream, sandwiches, a hot lunch and salad. Coffee is also available for your parents.
Eating is not permitted in the lecture theatre and seminar rooms.
What exactly is the KinderCampus ID card and what do I need it for?
Every child receives a KinderCampus ID card at the KinderCampus. You can pick this up at the information desk in the lecture hall centre. You can get a stamp for every activity you take part in at the KinderCampus. If you have collected at least three stamps, you can pick up a surprise at the information desk.
So take good care of your ID and keep collecting stamps at the various stations.
Do I need to bring anything to the KinderCampus?
For some offers, it is good if you bring something with you. In the repair workshop (A14 0-030), for example, you can fix broken things - from jeans to bicycle tyres.
You can also examine your cuddly toy or doll in the medicine room (A14 1-113).
You will need your trainers for the university sports programmes in Building S.
Is the KinderCampus barrier-free?
Access to the building and also to our seminar rooms and lecture theatres is barrier-free. If you need help, simply get in touch with us at the information desk. We will be happy to help you and show you the best way.
Family meeting place
It can get pretty crowded on an adventure day like this. If you lose your parents or chaperones in the hustle and bustle, we will be happy to help you. You will recognise us by our black T-shirts with the golden 50. We have also set up two meeting points - at the side entrance to the lecture hall centre and in the foyer.
