About us
Vocational and Business Education (BWP) has been offered at the University of Oldenburg since 1974. BWP functions as an integrative discipline combining vocational pedagogy and subject-specific didactics, and is responsible for teaching the two degree programmes ‘Business Education’ and ‘Business Didactics’.
Degree Programme
The degree programme in Vocational and Business Education comprises a two-tier structure of Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees. The dual-subject Bachelor’s degree programme in Economics (specialising in vocational education) offers graduates the opportunity to subsequently:
- enter the workforce straight away or
- pursue a specialised Master’s degree, or
- to complete a teacher-training Master’s programme [qualification: Master of Education (Business Education)]
Successful completion of the Master of Education (Business Education) enables graduates to enter the pre-service training programme for teaching at vocational schools.
research
The research focus of Vocational and Business Education centres on the description, explanation and design of formal and informal teaching, learning and qualification processes.
This takes place in particular within vocational training, workplace, extra- and inter-organisational, and university contexts. The Department of Vocational and Business Education focuses on the following key areas: epistemic beliefs, vocational education and training for sustainable development, learning tasks, and competence development and assessment.
