Rebekka Hilbrands’
What led you to C3L?
I’m studying Business Administration whilst working and am a crewing superintendent at a shipping company. During my training as a shipping clerk, many business-related topics were touched upon, which I wanted to explore in greater depth through a degree course.
What do you particularly like about it?
My job often takes me to South-East Asia. However, a purely online degree wasn’t an option for me, as personal interaction with other students is important to me. This gives me an insight into other companies and allows me to see how they tackle problems and think innovatively. We’re in the midst of major change at every level, which is why the lecturers place great emphasis on ‘thinking outside the box’. It’s important not just to consider how problems were solved in the past, but how to develop new approaches and solutions.
Where is your learning taking you?
Approaching topics in a different way will be a great help in future leadership roles. I’m motivated by the fact that I can apply what I’ve learnt straight away. For example, I can support the project team at the company with the Supply Chain Act. As well as my professional skills, I’m also developing my personal skills. Through my studies, I’m learning to organise myself, coordinate groups and present results.
