Oldenburg. “Boundary Situations of Thought – Applications of Idealism” is the theme of the series of lectures on philosophy, which is taking place online in the summer semester. The series begins on Monday 20 April with a one-hour discussion between the Polish poet and author Adam Zagajewski and Prof. Dr Matthias Bormuth from the Institute of Philosophy at the University of Oldenburg, who is coordinating the series of lectures academically.

The twelve sessions of the series of lectures adopt the format of the talk programme “Reflections with Jaspers – Dialogues on the Present” broadcast by Oldenburg’s local television station Oeins. The discussions – featuring, amongst others, the writer Durs Grünbein and the Hegel scholar Prof. Dr Klaus Vieweg from the University of Jena – will be recorded in the broadcaster’s studio and made available digitally every Monday. Afterwards, registered guest students can ask questions via the university’s learning management system, which Bormuth will address in a short essay. These documents will also be made available digitally.

The series of lectures is a co-operation between the Institute of Philosophy and the C3L – Centre for Lifelong Learning, in conjunction with the Karl Jaspers Society. Registrations to attend the series of lectures as guest listeners are open until 15 May; further information is available at:
