At the start of the coronavirus crisis, the C3L developed a learning platform for the Oldenburg Fire Service. The emergency services used this, amongst other things, for online training on infection control. Matthias Hemmelgarn from the fire service’s vocational college made an enquiry in March and received an immediate positive response. Within four days, the C3L had made the online platform C3llo (pronounced ‘Cello’) available. The learning management system enabled emergency services staff to organise projects, collaborate on and manage content, share information and develop specific e-learning formats, such as short courses on infection control.
“C3llo is the learning environment for our part-time training programmes and was programmed in-house. This gives us a great deal of flexibility,” reports Annabelle Jandrich, Head of the IT/Media/Learning Design division. “We wanted to help quickly, so we adapted the system to the fire service’s needs in no time at all and got it up and running,” Jandrich continues. The fire service also uses C3llo for the training of paramedics – which can currently only take place digitally – and for further professional development. “All of this has really helped us to keep the situation under control,” says Thate.
