Brief description and objectives
"MIRASTO - Migrant self-organisations and socio-educational further education" is a joint project between Goethe University Frankfurt, the University of Oldenburg and migrant self-organisations (MSOs). MSOs are important partners and actors in institutional education in pedagogical fields of action. By bringing in their perspectives and those of their recipients, participation processes can be promoted and content for sensitising gaps in perception can be established in institutional structures of further education and counselling.
Sub-project 3 at the University of Oldenburg aims to strengthen and emphasise the importance of MSOs as actors in institutional (continuing) education in pedagogical fields of action. In a further step, their cooperative relationships with universities, public bodies and further education providers will be analysed. Together with the MSOs, processes are developed that support the individual academic and social participation of immigrants. In addition, (structural) barriers to participation in academic appointments in pedagogical fields of action are critically examined.
Description of the work of the project at C3L
Together with the MSOs and their recipients, content is being developed for a diversity-conscious further training series for specialist staff in the social and educational field as well as educational counsellors and educational advisors in adult education. Training and learning modules will be developed at the University of Oldenburg based on the practical knowledge of (migrant) further education providers and people with migration and refugee biographies. These will be developed in a dialogue workshop format with various providers of adult education and educational counselling, which will also incorporate the many years of experience of the Centre for Lifelong Learning (C3L), the Centre for Migration, Education and Cultural Studies (CMC) and the research results of the partner university in Frankfurt.
An additional documentary film will portray the range of biographical trajectories of selected graduates. Key findings from this film will be integrated into the training modules.
Target group
The diversity-oriented training series is aimed at professionals in the social and educational sector as well as educational advisors and counsellors.
