Lunch & Learn: AI for Business Angels: How ChatGPT and similar tools can make the screening of start-ups more efficient and professional

In his master’s thesis, which he completed whilst working full-time, Mario van Zadel investigated how AI can specifically support the investment process of business angels. Based on qualitative interviews with business angels and an expert interview with the ‘Business Angel of the Year 2020’ , a practical approach was developed which demonstrates how freely available tools such as ChatGPT can already be used to significantly speed up and objectify the screening of pitch decks and business plans.

During the Lunch&Learn session, he will present the key findings and will be available not only to answer questions about the content but also to discuss the process behind the writing of his thesis.

The presentation is aimed at project managers, innovation managers, CX experts and anyone who wishes to use AI not only to automate processes, but also to design successful and customer-centric interactions.

Mario van Zadel has been working as a freelance software developer for over nine years and specialises in the modernisation of web applications. He holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Informatics and, whilst working, completed the “Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship (MBA)” degree programme at the C3L at the University of Oldenburg. He submitted his Master’s thesis on the topic ‘AI for Business Angels: Opportunities to Increase Efficiency and Professionalism’ in October 2025. In it, he combines his technical expertise with issues from the start-up and investment sectors and develops a practical approach to the use of AI in the day-to-day work of business angels.
