Scrappy Bird
Scrappy Bird
"Scrappy may be a funny bird, but he's also a very clean one. And he doesn't like rubbish at all!
That's why he always flies over the city in his spare time and collects the rubbish lying around. And as Scrappy is also a big fan of recycling, it goes without saying that he separates the rubbish and drops it in the right bin.
Join Scrappy on his foray across the city and collect as much rubbish as possible from the roofs of the houses. But beware: with extra weight, Scrappy will find it a little harder to fly! When you get to the right place, all you have to do is let Scrappy know (just give him a quick tap) so that he drops the rubbish again and hopefully it will land in the right bin!"
Scrappy Bird is the result of a co-operation between the Cascade Use junior research group at the University of Oldenburg and the Steinbeis Transfer Centre Resource in Bad Zwischenahn. With Scrappy Bird, we want to get the younger generation in particular interested in recycling.
In this game, the bird "Scrappy" flies over houses and collects valuable resources such as glass, paper, metal and organic waste and throws them into suitable recycling bins. This makes the city cleaner and the resources can be recycled.
Secondary raw materials are just as important to our economy as primary raw materials. With most recycling processes, we can save both energy and material compared to product manufacturing with primary raw materials, as materials do not have to be extracted from scratch but can simply be reused. We don't want a throw-away society, which is why the Scrappy Bird game incentivises you to collect and recycle the rubbish lying around in the form of points.
Scrappy Bird is currently still in development. However, it can already be installed and tried out for smartphones with Android (version 4.4 "KitKat" or higher) via the Google Playstore(direct link).
