The self-study module "Open Educational Resources (OER) in subject teaching" is dedicated to the basics of free educational materials using two specific and exemplary topics in subject teaching: Vikings and space. The handling of various file formats such as texts, images, videos etc. in relation to OER is explained. This self-study module thus contributes to the understanding of the application technology perspective on the digital networked world and serves to answer the question "How and when do I use this?". Additional exercises are designed to help answer this question and promote understanding, thereby offering teachers a quick and lasting benefit for teaching practice in subject lessons through the use of OER.
