Professor of European and International Business Law at the University of Oldenburg (UOL) since 2010, Director of the Hanse Law School (2010-2015) (2019 to present). Visiting professorships at the Universities of Potiers (2025), LeHavre (2024) and Los Angeles (2019), teaching position at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University Munich 2008-2009. Research assistant at the Centre for European Legal Policy at the University of Bremen (1997-2007), habilitation at the University of Bremen 2005 ("Eigentum an Information", Mohr Siebeck 2007); doctorate at the Graduiertenkolleg "Risikoregulierung und Privatrechtssystem" (University of Bremen) 1995 ("Ökologische Schäden", Duncker & Humblot 1997). State Examination in Law 1991 and 1997, Berlin Court of Appeal. Studied History and Law in Tübingen, Berlin (FU) and Washington DC.
Current functions in scientific self-administration: Member of the Faculty Council of UOL Faculty II (term of office 2025-27), member of the doctorate committee, member of the Commission for Good Academic Practice UOL (term of office 2025-27), member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the Cross-Border Institute of Healthcare Systems and Prevention (UOL) since 2025, member of the Drug Commission of the German Medical Association (AKDÄ) since 2014.
Prof Dr Godt was born in Westphalia (NRW-Germany), is married to Prof Dr Stefan R. Hauser and has a grown-up son with him.
