Ophthalmology
Curricular teaching in year 2 and year 4:
Module 2.4 Perception: Lecture, problem solving seminar, POL, patient lecture and clinical practical skills.
Module 4.3 Propaedeutics Neurology/Psychiatry: Interactive seminars, Clinical Practical Skills.
Elective microsurgery course: includes the practical performance of various ophthalmological surgical methods on the porcine eye.
Regenerative ophthalmology elective: laboratory course that offers initial insights into the Department of Ophthalmology's research focus on regenerative medicine and in which students actively and independently learn and apply initial laboratory methods for tissue engineering of ophthalmological tissue.
Doctorate: The Department of Ophthalmology offers students the opportunity to write their medical doctorate both in the clinic and in the research laboratory. In addition to the opportunity to participate in clinical studies, we offer current topics related to our ongoing research projects.
Practical year (PJ): The University Department of Ophthalmology offers students the opportunity to complete their PJ elective at the clinic. To this end, regular specialist training courses are offered within the clinic, as well as individual support from a permanent mentor.
Furthermore, the Ophthalmology Clinic offers interested scientists the opportunity to carry out their Bachelor's and/or Master's thesis in the Laboratory for Exp Ophthalmology. For this purpose, we offer current topics of ongoing research projects. Furthermore, we also offer the opportunity to carry out a scientific doctorate.

Gynaecology
Training in the clinical subjects of the EMS curriculum is regulated in the logbook. This also represents an important course certificate that every student must submit.
Teaching activities at the University Clinic for Gynaecology at Pius Hospital Oldenburg include the following topics:
Curricular teaching from 1st year to 5th year:
- Consultation and gynaecological examination
- Theoretical and practical knowledge of surgical gynaecology
- Diagnosis and treatment of lower abdominal complaints
- Practical skills in gynaecology
- Diagnosis and treatment of gynaecological oncology
- Dealing with gynaecological emergencies
Pre-clinical elective, 2nd and 3rd year:
- During the elective specialisation in 1 of 5 areas:
- Endometriosis
- Uterus myomatosus
- Peritoneal adhesions
- Health services research
- gynaecological oncology
Elective courses: Workshops to improve medical skills/specialist competences (4th to 6th year):
- "Telemedicine meets gynaecology: simulated care consultations"
- "The role of the assistant in gynaecological minimally invasive surgery: simulated guided training"
- "Patient education: case studies in gynaecology"

The University Clinic for Gynaecology offers interested scientists the opportunity to carry out their Bachelor's/Master's thesis/LFC project/PhD in clinical research in gynaecological and gynaecological oncological diseases, e.g:

- Doctorate: The University Clinic for Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery at Pius Hospital offers students the opportunity to complete a medical doctorate. In addition to the possibility of carrying out a project related to ongoing (clinical) research projects, we are also happy to develop the doctoral student's own research ideas together.
- Practical year (PJ): The University Clinic for Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery at Pius Hospital offers students the opportunity to carry out their PJ elective at the clinic. To this end, regular specialist training courses are offered within the clinic, as well as individual support from a permanent mentor.
- Furthermore, the University Clinic for Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery at Pius Hospital offers interested scientists from other disciplines (e.g. BSc and MSc PTM [Physics, Technology and Medicine]) the opportunity to complete their Bachelor's and/or Master's thesis. This is also possible in cooperation with the Department of Orthopaedics at the UMCG.
