Towards a European Network of Undergraduate Research

Representatives from universities, academic networks, and research organisations across Europe met in Luxembourg to discuss the future of undergraduate research and strengthen European collaboration.

On 6 May 2026, experts from universities, research networks, and higher education organisations gathered in Luxembourg for the roundtable “Towards a European Network of Undergraduate Research”. The meeting was organised within the Posters in Brussels Erasmus+ project and brought together participants from 14 European associations and networks.

The discussions focused on the role of undergraduate research in higher education, its contribution to student learning and innovation, and opportunities to increase its visibility and impact across Europe. Participants exchanged experiences and explored future models for collaboration between universities and research organisations.

A central focus of the meeting was the development of a European network for undergraduate research. Such a network would connect existing initiatives, facilitate the exchange of good practices, strengthen cooperation among institutions, and increase the visibility of student research across Europe. The roundtable also examined how research-based learning can contribute to key European priorities, including skills development, innovation, and competitiveness.
