EMB184
Cruise EMB184 was conducted to study the influence of the air-sea interface on the production of marine aerosol particles as well as on CO2 gas-exchange. We deployed a remote-controlled catamaran to analyze and sample the uppermost water column and a free-drifting buoy to determine CO2-fluxes. In parallel we sampled ambient aerosol particles in order to compare these to nascent aerosol particles which were generated in a lab-based aerosol chamber filled with surface water. Several CTD casts were performed each day to characterize and sample the water column.
