Recruiting female talent
In the ranking of the Centre of Excellence Women and Science (CEWS), the University of Oldenburg has been at the forefront for years in increasing the proportion of women among academic staff, and the proportion of women in professorships is above average in a national comparison.
However, women are still severely underrepresented in science and technology. Women are also significantly less represented on committees than men. The Chief Gender Equality Officer at the University of Oldenburg is committed to ensuring that
- attracting more excellent women, in particular female professors and post-doctoral students as well as managers in science and administration
- supporting female careers in STEM subjects (female pupils, students, graduates and early career researchers),
- the proportion of women in technology is increased,
- that the study and employment situation of women is further improved, even in areas in which women are not underrepresented,
- committee work becomes more attractive for women and the concerns of women of all status groups are taken into account in development and structural plans.
The Chief Gender Equality Officer has a special right of participation in personnel matters. In personnel development planning and upcoming personnel measures (e.g. appointment and staffing procedures, recruitment, upgrading, redeployment, dismissals), the decentralised Equal Opportunities Officers responsible for the respective area are already involved in the initial consultation phase in the individual organisational units and committees.
