Sound Objects in Science Fiction - Imaginations of the Forces of the Future (working title)

Abstract

Sound objects in science fiction films are not only part of the staging of socio-technical images of the future, but can themselves also be understood as bodies of knowledge with a reality-constituting effect. At the same time, they can only be read within the framework of a discursive network, because sound objects are not meant to be authentic, but plausible. So what do we want to convince ourselves of in the audio-visual design of self-evident science fiction figures? the analyses in this work ask both about the discursive fields of knowledge that are used in the decoding of the sound objects and about consensual imaginaries of physical forces that are articulated into the future.
