After completing her master's degree, she worked as head of the bibliophilia and graphics department in an antiquarian bookshop and as a research assistant at the Emschertal Museum.
1986 Doctorate (dissertation "Studies on Richard Hamilton: The Early Work", Ruhr University Bochum). - Subsequently worked in monument conservation and in the editing of an art literature database, as well as lecturing on 20th century art at various universities.
1990-2014 research assistant at the Kunstakademie Düsseldorf, head of the archive with collections, including setting up a database and supervising research projects.
