We mourn the loss of a friend, colleague and teacher who decisively shaped and developed art history at Oldenburg University and opened it up to questions from other disciplines - as an expert on museums, the politics of remembrance and the diverse links between art and popular culture. We will miss his wealth of ideas, his suggestions and his knowledge, as well as his humour and his laughter.
