Self-study course on gender-sensitive STEM teaching

Gender-sensitive STEM teaching - how and why?

In addition to a lack of role models and gender-stereotypical ways of thinking, the historically evolved subject cultures play an important role in the underrepresentation of women in many STEM degree programmes.

In the self-study course "Gender-sensitive STEM teaching - how and why?" you will find a condensed and practice-orientated overview of the most important structures that make it difficult for women to participate on an equal footing. We would like to encourage you to self-reflect on your own ideas and attitudes and thus facilitate approaches to changing teaching. In a teaching methods kit, we will introduce you to some teaching and learning methods that promote a gender-conscious organisation of courses and are also suitable for teaching scientific or technical content.

The self-study course is embedded in a Stud.IP study group, which is open to all interested lecturers and also offers the opportunity to exchange ideas. A certificate of attendance can be issued if all tasks from the course have been completed. Further information can be found in the course.
