Heiko Müller

Heiko Müller is a researcher at the University of Oldenburg, recognized for his contributions to the fields of informatics and human-computer interaction. His academic journey began at the University of Oldenburg, where he studied informatics and graduated with a diploma. Following his graduation, Heiko embarked on his academic career at the OFFIS - Institute for Information Technology located in Oldenburg, where he participated in various groundbreaking research projects. Notably, he contributed to the "Gestaltung Altersgerechter Lebenswelten" project aimed at designing age-friendly living environments, as well as the EU-funded "D3CoS" project, which focused on developing dependable cooperative systems.

In 2018, Heiko achieved his doctorate, focusing on "Ambient Light Displays for Temporal Information". Further expanding his international experience, Heiko spent 18 months as a postdoc at the University of Lapland in Rovaniemi, Finland. During his time there, he advanced his research within the EU-funded project "DecoChrom," exploring the intersection of technology and electro-chromatic displays.

Returning to his academic roots in 2020, Heiko rejoined the University of Oldenburg. He now coordinates the DFG-funded priority program "Scalable Interaction Paradigms for Pervasive Computing Environments," reflecting his commitment to pioneering research endeavors.

Heiko's research interests are diverse, revolving around Ambient Display Technologies, Making, Robotics, and Digital Inclusion. His prolific academic contributions are demonstrated through co-authoring 70 publications, showcasing his influence and active participation in scholarly discourse. He is a member of the ACM and the German Gesellschaft für Informatik, underscoring his integration within key scientific communities.

Beyond his research activities, Heiko Müller plays a dynamic role in the academic community. He has held numerous chair positions at international conferences, provided expert reviews, and helped in organizing the annual German networking event at the prestigious Human-Computer Interaction flagship conference, CHI. His continuous involvement highlights his dedication to advancing the informatics field and fostering collaborative networks.
