The Training Centre for Psychotherapy at the Centre for Lifelong Learning (C3L) at the University of Oldenburg is the first Institute in Lower Saxony to receive state admission from the state of Lower Saxony for systemic therapy training in accordance with the Psychotherapists Act.
Under the scientific direction of Privatdozent Dr Joseph Rieforth (PP/KJP), the university has been offering postgraduate in-service modularised further education in systemic counselling and family and systemic therapy since 2003. The systemic therapy method incorporates the patient's social context and strengthens their own abilities and resources. With its recognition as a scientific therapy method by the Advisory Council for Psychotherapy in 2008, systemic psychotherapy is now becoming more important for the treatment of patients.
For over ten years now, the Oldenburg training centre has been training psychological psychotherapists and child and adolescent psychotherapists in the field of depth psychology, who receive their licence to practise upon completion of their training.
Training in systemic psychotherapy with a licence to practise is currently only possible at two other institutes in Germany.
