Earthquakes in Turkey and Syria

The severe earthquakes have hit Turkey and Syria hard. The need in the affected areas is great. The University of Oldenburg therefore strongly supports the appeal for donations by the city of Oldenburg.

The severe earthquakes have hit Turkey and Syria hard. Distressing images reach us: tens of thousands of people have died or been injured, hundreds of thousands are homeless.

Many people who study or work at the University of Oldenburg come from Syria or Turkey or have relatives and friends there. Our thoughts are with those affected and their families.

The need in the affected areas is great. The University of Oldenburg therefore strongly supports the appeal for donations by the city of Oldenburg and asks those who would like to and can help to donate to one of the organisations mentioned there.

Those who need psychological support can get in touch with the Psychological Counselling Service of the University and the Studentenwerk via email or phone: +49-441-798-4400.

The staff of the university’s International Office are also available as contact persons: .

Students who are affected can also contact the ASTA of the university for advice and support.

Important basic information on topics such as humanitarian aid for the affected regions and further information, for example for people who have family members in the region, can be found on the website of the Federal Foreign Office.
