Two Oldenburg university lecturers were confirmed in office in the regular elections for the seven-member board of the International Hölderlin Society: German scholar Prof Dr Sabine Doering and philosopher Prof Dr Johann Kreuzer.
The election took place at the annual meeting of the Hölderlin Society in mid-June in Constance. Doering was also confirmed in her office as President of the Society for a further four years.
Both Doering and Kreuzer have published numerous publications on Hölderlin over the years. The "Hölderlin Handbook" edited by Kreuzer is a standard work of Hölderlin research. Doering is co-editor of the Hölderlin Yearbook. The two Oldenburg academics have organised a series of lectures on Hölderlin: The lectures and results will soon be published by BIS-Verlag.
The Hölderlin Society, based in the Hölderlin Tower in Tübingen, is one of the largest literary associations with around 1,200 members. One of its main tasks is to promote dialogue between all those interested in the poet and his work. With its conferences and publications, it supports research, including the major Hölderlin editions, and manages the Hölderlin House on the Neckar on behalf of the city of Tübingen.
