International choir project

The German-Dutch choir project "Schrittweise" ("Step by Step") sets a musical accent for more understanding and rapprochement between the peoples.

The German-Dutch choir project "Schrittweise" ("Step by Step") sets a musical accent for more understanding and rapprochement between the peoples. The Oldenburg choir "Bundschuh" and the Bremen choir workshop perform together with the Dutch choir "4-Mei Projekt".

The three choirs will give a joint concert at the composers' colloquium "Musik unserer Zeit" at the University of Oldenburg (Haarentor campus, auditorium). The dress rehearsal is on Friday, 13 April at 7.00 pm. The concert will take place on Saturday, 14 April at 6.00 pm. The organiser is Prof. Violeta Dinescu from the Institute of Music.
The initiator of the joint performance is the Dutch choir "4- Mei Projekt", which traditionally commemorates the victims of National Socialism with a concert on 4 May in the Netherlands. For the first time, the project has now invited two German choirs, the Bundschuh Choir and the Chorwerkstatt, to perform a joint programme. The aim of the concert is to encourage greater openness and tolerance between peoples.
Each choir will perform its own part of the programme. The 135 singers will perform four pieces together. The programme mainly includes works from the 20th century: From Jean Sibelius, Hanns Eisler and Paul Dessau to Mordechaj Gebirtig, Mikis Theodorakis and Michael Jackson.
On Friday, 4 May, "Schrittweise" will perform in Groningen (De Oosterpoort) and on Sunday, 6 May, in Bremen (Friedenskirche).
