Jörg Stahlmann appointed Vice President for Administration and Finance

Jörg Stahlmann, long-standing Head of the University's Division of Finance, has been appointed Vice President for Administration and Finance at the University of Oldenburg by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science.

Stahlmann's six-year term of office began on 1 January 2015, having been elected Vice President by a large majority of the University Senate in May. Prior to this, he had already been appointed to represent the full-time office. Acting President Prof Dr Katharina Al-Shamery is delighted that in Stahlmann, the university has gained a prudent administrative and financial expert who knows the university inside out. Jörg Stahlmann will continue to be an important support for the Presidential Board as it faces future challenges.

The 48-year-old Stahlmann completed his administrative training at the Göttingen district administration and then worked in the human resources department of the University of Göttingen's clinics. In 1994, he moved to the finance department of the University of Oldenburg, which he took over as head in 2007. In June 2013, the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science appointed him as Vice President. Stahlmann completed a part-time degree in business administration at the Academy of Administration and Economics. "I look forward to continuing to advance this dynamic university together and in collegial cooperation," said Stahlmann.
