Last lecture with big raffle at the end of the KinderUni year
Have you heard? There's a lot going on in the ear! Hair cells rock, there's a snail, and an eardrum also plays an important role when it comes to good hearing. But things can also go wrong and we hear badly - why is that? Physicist and hearing researcher Prof Dr Volker Hohmann, who takes eight to twelve-year-olds on an exciting journey into the auditory canal, knows exactly why. He also explains how research is helping people with hearing loss to hear much better again - and what our smartphones actually have to do with the whole topic! In this lecture on 23 September, the Audimax will belong to the KinderUni students for the last time this year.
There will be plenty of excitement after the lecture, when the traditional prize draw will take place to round off the KinderUni year. All children present take part. The 1st prize: a weekend trip to the capital Berlin. The main prize, which includes a train journey for the winning child and accompanying person, two nights in a hotel and a Berlin WelcomeCard, is sponsored by Landessparkasse zu Oldenburg (LzO).
The lecture begins at 4.30 pm. Admission to the lecture theatre centre (A14) on the Haarentor campus is from 4.00 pm. Tickets (2.50 euros) for the lecture are available via the KinderUni website (www.kinderuni-oldenburg.de) as well as at the offices of the Nordwest-Zeitung and all advance booking offices of Nordwest Ticket GmbH. Adults do not need an admission ticket - they are not allowed in the lecture theatre. They can follow the lectures on a screen in the foyer of the lecture theatre centre. The Malteser Hilfsdienst will provide security on site.
