Oldenburg School enters the third round

Broad and multi-layered promotion of young talent: Four Schools invite Master's students and doctoral candidates, postdocs and postdocs to the third edition of the "Oldenburg School" for the humanities and social sciences in September.

Broad and multi-layered support for young academics: four Schools are inviting Master's students, doctoral candidates and postdocs to the third edition of the "Oldenburg School" for the humanities and social sciences in September.

With this programme, the university aims to promote and sustainably improve the training of young academics from the degree to the postdoctoral phase. The intensive exchange with other young academics as well as interaction with experienced researchers should contribute to this. The organisers from School I to IV offer topic-, theory- and method-focused events such as summer schools, masterclasses, autumn workshops and alumni conferences. The individual modules are accompanied by an overarching programme of public lectures and workshops organised by the Graduate School 3GO. Most of the programmes take place in the Schlaues Haus (Schlossplatz 16). Some are already fully booked, but registration is still possible for many events. Some examples:

The "Shaping the Future" project, which is based at the "Genealogy of the Present" academic centre, is holding three public future workshops on 6 and 7 September. The idea is for scientists to discuss the future with citizens. Based on the topics of sustainability, migration and digitalisation, they will discuss how we want to live together in the future. Each workshop will have a different focus: the first will be on migration, followed by sustainability and digitalisation.

Among other things, the Research Training Group Self-Formations is offering the workshop "Literary Practices of the Present. Authorship and autofictional writing in the digital space" on 13 and 14 September. The participants will look at the special features of contemporary literature, as new formats such as co-writing projects, weblogs or Facebook and Twitter literature also present new challenges for academia. Several speakers will shed light on various facets of the topic in 30-minute presentations and invite participants to join in the discussion.

The Start-up and Innovation Centre, together with the Professorship for Female Entrepreneurship, is organising the workshop "Geistreich gründen" on 14 September. The participants will discuss what characterises successful founders and then tailor this ideal image to the humanities.
