“Recognising potential – developing prospects” is the title of a new module to support students’ studies, which the University of Oldenburg is offering in the summer semester in co-operation with Ländliche Erwachsenbildung in Niedersachsen e.V. (LEB). The pilot project aims to help students with vocational qualifications or foreign educational qualifications to recognise their respective skills and apply them effectively in their degree programmes and vocational training.
The series of events begins on Friday, 27 April, 10.00 am to 6.00 pm, at the LEB premises in Bad Zwischenahn (Bahnhofstraße 18) and will take place on three further dates until the end of June at the University of Oldenburg (Wechloy campus, Room A05-159).
The aim of the project is to support students in their personal and professional development. They will learn the basics of the ‘Potential Assessment Centre’ technique and, working in small groups, tackle tasks designed to reflect the real-life challenges of student and professional life. A workshop at the end of the project will serve to present and publish the results. In November, the project will also be evaluated and critically discussed with experts from the fields of vocational education and higher education.
The module was initiated by the IndiKo project group (a study support module for integrating the assessment and development of individual competences into university education). The module is funded by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture (MWK) as part of the ‘Open University of Lower Saxony’ pilot project.
