The "Beats'n'Tweets" concert, at which five student music groups presented a wide-ranging programme in the university auditorium on 30 June, was very well received. The concert, which was conceived and organised by students as part of a "Concert dramaturgy and concert organisation" exercise, was actually supposed to take place outdoors, but had to be moved into the auditorium at short notice due to bad weather. It was the third of its kind to be organised jointly by the Institute of Music and the Oldenburg University Society (UGO). The series is entitled "Music between the seasons" and is to be continued.
The five groups received a great deal of applause and in some cases were celebrated enthusiastically.
- The 14-piece soul and funk band "Better Call Soul!" led by Peter Janssen, covered well-known soul music titles and supported them with rock elements.
- In the "e-beat Ensemble" , four students played stylish electro beats under the direction of Axel Fries. These were accompanied by generative video projections that were created as part of a seminar.
- Using only voice and bass, the duo "Me & The Boy" gave songs from the 80s, 90s and today a new, special charm.
- The trombone quartet "Trombastic" proved once again that a lot is possible with these deep-sounding instruments. Modern songs, baroque sounds and even children's songs were performed.
- With "unplugged" , the name says it all: 13 musicians developed songs as part of a seminar, which they presented without electronic amplification.
Prof. Dr Susanne Binas-Preisendörfer, who arranged the concert series with the UGO, and Jannika Olesch hosted the programme.
