Concept

6 topics for 6 exciting insights into 6 different sciences for many stimulating talks and discussions.

The principle of chance will decide which lecture you will attend. But don't worry, you won't miss out on any of the other topics, because afterwards all topics and aspects will be discussed in a cosy atmosphere with wine and tasty snacks in the library.

The table allocation will also be decided by drawing lots. This ensures that you will talk to guests and speakers you may not have met before.

Sociology, Law, German Studies, History, Mathematics and Psychology - a wide range of topics for discussion promises a convivial evening with stimulating encounters.

11th science soiree

Exciting presentations and lively dialogue at the 11th Science Soiree

The joy and relief of all participants at the 11th Science Soiree was palpable. After the event had to take a corona-related break, it was able to take place again on 12 September.

At this event, registered guests and members of the University Society are randomly assigned to a scientific lecture.
A total of six topics with corresponding lectures were offered, reflecting the wide range of topics covered by the university.
More than one hundred registrations were received, and the UGO Board is satisfied with this response.

The following lectures were offered:

Pedagogy: Prof Dr Ulla Licandro (Children need children - also for language acquisition?)

Economics: Prof Dr Stefanie Sievers-Glotzbach (Free, fair and lively - how new commons contribute to social change)

Literature: Prof Dr Thomas Boyken (Are dinosaurs a childhood disease? What dinosaurs tell us in literature)

Sports science: Prof. Dr Dirk Büsch (Do women have to train differently to men?)

Chemistry: Prof. Dr Katharina Al-Shamery (After gold, everything depends on gold...)

Medicine: Prof. Dr Mark Schweda (Do robots care better? Gender aspects in care technology)

Following the event, there was a lively discussion in the foyer of the lecture theatre centre. The 11th Science Soiree thus seamlessly followed on from the previous events.
