Coordinators for Studies and Teaching in Fac. I and Institute of Educational Sciences

Registration for the courses

How does the application process work?

1. inspection of the courses on offer

After the School I course programme has been approved (usually at least 2 months before the start of the course period), the courses offered by the Institute of Educational Sciences will be published in Stud.IP at: elearning.uni-oldenburg.de/plugins.php/veranstaltungsverzeichnis/verzeichnis.

You can view the modules offered on your degree programme in the course directory on Stud.IP. It is important that you select the appropriate semester in the selection field on the left-hand side.

2. selection of modules to be studied

You select which modules you would like to take in the next semester according to the examination regulations or study programme plan.
- You can find the examination regulations at: uol.de/studium/pruefungen/
- You can find the current study plans for your degree programmes at: uol.de/studium/studienangebot

- Current information on the educational science curriculum can be found at Regulations on the Educational Science Curriculum

Further recommendations and information on taking modules in the teacher training degree programmes can be found on the website of the Centre for Teacher Education (DiZ): uol.de/diz/studium-und-lehre/bachelormaster-med/

Important: If your study programme deviates from the study plan, please note the participation requirements for the respective modules. The participation requirements can be found in the module descriptions.

3. registration for courses and indication of priorities

A maximum number of participants is set for all courses with the exception of lectures.

Registration for lectures:

  1. Selection of the lecture of a module in Stud.IP.
  2. Select "Access to course" in the action field on the left-hand side and confirm access.
  3. Check your registration for the course.

Registration for other courses (seminars, tutorials, colloquia...)

  1. Selection of a course (seminar, exercise, colloquium) of a module that you would like to study in the future in Stud.IP and select "Access to the course" in the action field on the left-hand side.
  2. Prioritise which courses of a module you could potentially attend in the next semester. Please always enter several courses!

It is possible to specify and adjust priorities up to the time when the courses of the respective module are distributed.

Important: You should always prioritise several courses (more than 3) within a module. The percentage display on Stud.IP shows you how likely it is that you will be allocated to a particular course.

4. allocation of places in the courses / adjustment of priorities

If the number of students registered for a course (seminar, tutorial, colloquium) exceeds the maximum number of participants, places are allocated at random (= lottery procedure).

When allocating course places, priority is given to students who make use of the hardship provision or who are studying in higher semesters than provided for in the study plan for this module. Students for whose semester the module is intended have a significantly higher probability of being allocated a place than students from lower semesters.

The times at which the module places are allocated can be found in the registration rules in Stud.IP.

Important: The courses of the modules of the same semester are distributed at different times (usually with an interval of 24-48 hours). If necessary, please adjust your priorities for modules whose course places are allocated at a later date.

Notes on registration rules

The registration rules specify the technical admission requirements for the courses, i.e. the conditions that must be met in order to participate in the course allocation procedures.

What are the conditions and what do they mean?

- Registration is possible from (...) to (...):
During this period you can register for the courses, or the allocation procedure.

- A fixed number of places will be allocated in the courses:
The course has a limited number of participants

- The places in the relevant courses will be allocated on (date) at (time):
At the specified time, places will be allocated via the prioritisation procedure (lottery).

- Further places may be made available via waiting lists:
Priorities not considered may be added to the waiting list of initial requests

- This rule applies from (date, time) to (date, time):
Indicates the period in which the following rules apply

- At least one of the following conditions must be met in order to apply:
- Degree is Master of Education (Special Education)
- Degree is Master of Education (Gymnasium)
- Degree is Master of Education (Haupt- und Realschule)

In this case, you must be enrolled in one of the specified degree programmes in order to participate in the allocation procedure.e.g. "Degree is Master of Education (Gymnasium)" and "Subject is German and semester is at least 1".

- Registration for a maximum of 1 course from the registration set is permitted:
Only one course from this registration set will be allocated.

- Registration is only permitted for participants in the course: (course number, title, semester):
Participation in the allocation procedure requires attendance at the specified course.

- The following groups of people are given preference when allocating places:
Groups can be defined here whose prioritisation should be given preferential consideration when allocating places (e.g. students in higher semesters)

5. possibilities to change courses

Once the course places have been allocated via the prioritisation procedure, you have the option of changing courses within a module if the capacity to attend allows. This is possible in the first four weeks after the start of the course period of the respective semester.

Important: Immediately deregister from courses you will not be attending.

Further information

Regulations for hardship cases

When allocating places, students with a so-called "hardship reason" are prioritised. Students who can provide evidence of a hardship case are entered on an anonymised list in Stud.IP and are given priority in the allocation of places in the registration procedure according to priorities (lottery procedure).
Early enrolment in the course or enrolment after the automatic allocation of places has expired will not (no longer) take place.

Application

An informal proposal is required for enrolment. Proposals must be submitted at least 3 days before the course places are allocated.

Please assign yourself and select the appropriate email address.

For the independent degree programmes of the Institute of Educational Sciences (subject/2-subject Bachelor of Education, Pedagogical Action in the Migration Society; Interdisciplinary Subject Education, M.A. Educational Sciences and M.Ed. Subject Education):

For the modules of the Institute of Educational Sciences in the area of specialisation, in Educational Sciences and in Sachunterricht (M.Ed.):

Please note: Modules in the area of specialisation (pb abbreviation) cannot take hardship cases into account.

Evidence: Be sure to include the scan or proof (e.g. child's birth certificate) as a file attachment to the email. These submitted documents will of course be treated confidentially and deleted as soon as we become aware of them.

Criteria and proof for a case of hardship

  • Serious long-term illness or disability. Proof: e.g. current certificate from the doctor stating the duration of the illness, severely disabled person's pass
  • Caring for a child up to the age of 14 in your own household. Proof: e.g. birth certificate of the youngest child
  • Caring for close relatives (parents, parents-in-law, spouse, partner, siblings or children). Proof: e.g. certificate from the health insurance company about the care and the expenses to be incurred
  • Students of a co-operation subject at the University of Bremen. Proof: e.g. enrolment certificate
  • Active participation in the committees of School I, the Institutes of Education, Special Needs Education and Rehabilitation or Social Sciences

Important! An academic appointment is not considered a case of hardship.

Waiting lists

Registration as a participant in the waiting list of a course does not entitle you to participate in the course. Please refrain from making enquiries to the lecturers in this regard.

The quantitative teaching standards at the C.v.O. University of Oldenburg regulate the maximum number of participants permitted. As a rule, a maximum of 40 students may participate in courses in Bachelor's degree programmes; in Master's degree programmes, the number of participants is generally limited to 25 students. In exceptional cases, courses may deviate from these requirements with the approval of the Study Commission.
