That we err in what we do,
Is the lot to which we are subject;
In the morning I make great projects,
But during the day only foolish things.

Voltaire, "Memnon ou La sagesse humaine" (1747)

The almost impossible task is to allow neither the power of others nor one's own powerlessness to make one stupid.

Theodor W. Adorno, "Minima Moralia" (1951)

Oh Lord, won't you buy me aMercedes-Benz? ...

Joplin, McClure and Neuwirth (1970)

Even the Bolsheviks had the problem that teachers were in the majority among their members.

Wolfgang Pohrt (2012)

Main areas of work

Curriculum vitae

The concepts of the subjective and the objective have become completely reversed. Objective means the non-controversial side of the phenomenon, its unquestioningly accepted imprint, the façade constructed from classified data, i.e. the subjective; and subjective is what they call what breaks through this, enters into the specific experience of the thing, renounces the judged convenus about it and sets the relationship to the object in place of the majority decision of those who do not even look at it, let alone think it - i.e. the objective.

Theodor W. Adorno, "Minima Moralia" (1951)
