Today, three more racks for the new high-performance computers ROSA, STORM and MOUSE were delivered and brought into the IT services data centre with a crane. The first two racks for the STORM partition were delivered back in February and have recently been in test operation. The racks delivered today add the ROSA and MOUSE partitions to the system.
ROSA, named after Rosalinde von Ossietzky-Palm, will replace the current HPC cluster CARL and provide the university's researchers with computing power in areas such as molecular and quantum chemistry, artificial intelligence and machine learning, neuroscience, genomics and bioinformatics, as well as many other areas. STORM and MOUSE, on the other hand, will be used in the field of wind energy research.
