A look inside the brain - where psychology, medicine and technology meet
On 16.02.2024, the Neuroimaging Centre of the University of Oldenburg, together with the Department of Psychology, will open its doors from 14:00. Get to know measurement methods and topics in the Department of Psychology and Neuroimaging Centre. Take a look at our MRI laboratory.
We look forward to inviting you on an exciting journey of discovery into the world of brain research. Learn how experts are researching the healthy brain and developing new treatments for diseases such as stroke and Parkinson's disease. Our programme offers interesting short presentations and information stands where you can find out more about the various methods. A special highlight is the guided tour through our MRI lab, where you can see directly how we examine the brain. We are particularly looking forward to talking to you in person - don't hesitate to contact us!

02 September 2022 - Open Day
Neuroimaging Centre of the University of Oldenburg
On 02.09.2022, the Neuroimaging Centre of the University of Oldenburg, together with the Department of Psychology and Department for Neuroscience, will open its doors from 14:00 and invite you to get an idea of our research. We will present our research in short lectures and invite you to familiarise yourself with brain research methods on site. Between the presentations, you will have the opportunity to talk to the researchers. You will also have the opportunity to take a look at some of the laboratories with various devices.

A look inside the brain
Imaging techniques such as magnetic resonance imaging (MRI ) or magnetoencephalography (MEG) make it possible to watch the human brain at work. At the Neuroimaging Centre at the University of Oldenburg, these two devices as well as electroencephalography (EEG) and near-infrared spectroscopy (NIRS) are used for scientific studies.
Researchers are investigating, for example, how we manage to listen to one of several speakers, do several things at the same time or process emotions. The aim is to gain a better understanding of how the brain achieves these amazing feats and why performance declines with age or various illnesses, for example. The open day will provide an insight into the ongoing research work and imaging techniques.
Programme:
15:00-15:30 - Lecture Neuroimaging Centre
15:30-17:00 - MRI guided tour & exhibition
17:00-17:30 - Lecture Neuroimaging Centre (repetition)
17:30-19:00 - MRI guided tour & exhibition
Do you want to learn more? Then open your ears and come to the Open Day of the Oldenburg Hearing Centre on 02.09.22!
The hearing acousticians and scientists will open the doors of the research institution and give exciting insights into the present and future of hearing acoustics with lectures and demonstrations. Whether it's the latest methods for measuring hearing, customising the experience of hearing aids or artificial intelligence for analysing health data - the Oldenburg hearing researchers are setting new standards in hearing acoustics.
