German loanwords in Polish
Background
This extensive research project on German loanwords in Polish was completed in 2010. The dictionary of German loanwords in Polish created as part of this project documents how the vocabulary of Polish reflects and develops the 1000 years of Polish-German relations. Apart from the first exact historical documentation of German loanwords in Polish, which was still decisively established in Göttingen under A. de Vincenz, the "historical-quantitative" connections established on the basis of this data are of particular interest. In the current political context, the project sees itself as a contribution to relativising current attempts at mutual demarcation in science and especially in the German-Slavic context by underlining what unites them. The creation of this dictionary was financially supported over a long period of time by the German Research Foundation and the Federal Commissioner for Culture and the Media . The Krakow Institute for Polish Language was available as a contact partner throughout the entire development process of the dictionary of German loanwords in Polish.
The WDLP is an essential part of the German loanword portal of the IDS.
