From 17 June to 19 June 2026, the annual conference of the Society for Neonatology and Paediatric Intensive Care Medicine (GNPI) took place in Mannheim. As part of the event, workshops and presentations were held under the title ‘Shaping the future for the next generation’. A number of contributions from Oldenburg were also presented in the form of posters and talks, covering topics such as the first 1,000 days, experimental research and open topics, paediatric intensive care, and cerebral imaging. In co-operation with Oldenburg University Hospital, we designed a poster examining data-driven algorithms for the treatment of preterm infants and their practical application, using the hospital’s neonatology department as a case study. The discussions at the event proved to be extremely enriching and led to a wide range of new insights as well as a deeper understanding of the topics covered.
