NFDI4Energy successfully started with a Kickoff!

On February 22, NFDI4Energy was officially launched with a kickoff event hosted by us as applicant institution. The goal of NFDI4Energy is to establish standards, infrastructures, and to support interdisciplinary approaches to energy systems research. The event brought together our partners from across the field to discuss the project's objectives and services, and to specify the details for the first phase.

Through NFDI4Energy, we aim to make research data in the field more accessible and reusable for the various stakeholders in energy systems research from research, industry, society, and politics. As emphasized by our spokesperson, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Astrid Nieße, we strive to enhance the work of researchers in energy systems research through our various services – the development of relevant services for the community is in focus.

Prof. Dr. Christiane Thiel, Vice President for Research and Transfer, emphasized the significance of research data management in her welcoming speech, underlining NFDI4Energy as an important success for University of Oldenburg and Oldenburg's energy informatics.

In addition to the University's Department of Computer Science and the OFFIS Institute for Computer Science, the project involves researchers from the University of Freiburg, the University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU), the Research Institute for Sustainability (RIFS) in Potsdam, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT), RWTH Aachen University, the Sociological Research Institute Göttingen (SOFI), the German National Library of Science and Technology (TIB) in Hannover, the Reiner Lemoine Institute in Berlin and the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Information Technology.

The kickoff event was a great opportunity to connect more deeply with our partners and to align the common goals. We look forward to collaborating on this essential project for the next five years.
