The internationally renowned expert for "Prior Learning Assessment and Recognition - PLAR", Dr Dianne Conrad from the Centre for Distance Education at Athabasca University (Canada), was a guest at the C3L - Centre for Lifelong Learning from 4 - 6 October:
To kick off the newly established PLAR service at the university, she trained its staff in a workshop and was then available for specific advice and expert discussions. As part of a project funded by the European Union and the state of Lower Saxony, a central PLAR service is currently being set up at the University of Oldenburg, which will advise and support students from the beginning of next year in the transfer of competences acquired outside of higher education to a university degree programme.
