The programme for university managers starts in Kenya. It was initiated by C3L together with the University of Rongo.

24 university managers from universities in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda and Ethiopia have undergone further training in Kenya to improve the operation and management of their institutions. The two-week training course "Strengthening university leadership and management" was organised in June 2024 by the Kenyan University of Rongo in cooperation with the University of Oldenburg. It was the kick-off for the UNILEAD Eastern Africa 2024 programme, which consists of three modules.

The participants were trained and mentored by experts from Germany, Kenya and Ghana. There was also an exchange with managers from Rongo University, the representative of the Regional Office for Africa of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and the UNILEAD programme manager Christine Vajna from the C3L of the University of Oldenburg.

The University Leadership and Management Training Course (UNILEAD) aims to prepare university executives for management tasks. The programme is supported by the DAAD, the German Rectors' Conference and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development.
