The Master’s in Education and Science Management at the University of Oldenburg was launched 20 years ago as one of the first part-time degree programmes in Germany. Since then, around 1,000 participants have completed the programme – either as further education or leading to an MBA (Master of Business Administration) qualification. A video marking the programme’s 20th anniversary shows how the course has developed and what sets it apart today. It features programme coordinators, lecturers and students.
In the coming winter semester, modules on education management, science communication, higher education and science management, and legal issues relating to analogue and digital education will be offered, amongst others. Management expertise is also taught in areas such as strategy, controlling and human resources. The modules can be taken as part of further education or within the Master’s degree programme. The continuing professional development certificate is fully recognised should students enrol on the degree programme at a later date.
The degree programme at the C3L – Centre for Lifelong Learning at the University of Oldenburg – prepares students, through the choice of a specialisation, for leadership roles in higher education, research and academia, or for educational management in schools, businesses and further education. There is a particular focus on digital learning and teaching technologies. Evaluations and successful career paths show that alumni are able to confidently tackle professional challenges using the specialist and personal skills they have acquired.
The programme is practice-oriented and predominantly online. Students work on joint projects on the digital campus. Each semester-long module usually involves just one short on-campus session.
