The C3L participates in the DGWF annual conference
With a contribution by Valerie Hug and Dr Joachim Stöter on the topic "Diversity through flexibilisation? - The development of small-scale programmes as a challenge for continuing education providers", the C3L will be taking part in the annual conference of the German Association for Advanced Scientific Training and Distance Learning (DGWF), which will be held in September.
In the course of the two funding phases of the federal-state competition "Advancement through Education" (2011-2020), the emphasis in the development of academic continuing education programmes was increasingly placed on certificate programmes (Nickel & Thiele, 2020). The HRK also describes "micro-degrees as formats for additional digital qualifications" (HRK 2020), and degrees such as CAS/DAS are seen as logical but challenging further developments of existing programme formats (Zimmermann, 2019). What does this change in programme design mean in concrete terms for the portfolio and necessary adaptation processes of established continuing education providers who were already active in this market before this project phase?
Based on developments at the Center for Lifelong Learning (C3L) at the University of Oldenburg, the presentation will describe how existing formats can be used as a content-related starting point for the development of programmes made more flexible by digital elements. At the same time, new, small-scale formats are used to develop current topics and thus position themselves in specific markets, particularly with the involvement of recognised cooperation partners. The transfer of these flexible formats into existing institutional structures presents particular challenges. In particular, the focus will be on experiences regarding the scalability of offers through digitalisation, the changed booking behaviour of participants as well as the changed understanding of the role of teachers and the associated necessary adaptation of existing content as part of this transformation process.
The DGWF Annual Conference will take place on 14-16 September 2022 in Berlin.
