Over the past three years, 20 psychological psychotherapists and child and adolescent psychotherapists have obtained their state qualification and licence to practise at the University of Oldenburg. The graduates were bid farewell at a ceremony at the training institute and the outpatient clinic for psychotherapy.
The professional licence to practise entitles them to work in a medical capacity and take over a practice licensed by the health insurance funds. Around 150 prospective psychotherapists are currently being trained at the C3L - Centre for Lifelong Learning at the University of Oldenburg. During their training, participants gain a wide range of experience treating patients in the centre's outpatient clinic over a period of at least five years. Due to a change in the law, the C3L will in future offer specialised psychotherapeutic further education instead of training, which is currently being developed.
The University of Oldenburg makes a significant contribution to the psychotherapeutic care of adults, children and adolescents in the region. On the one hand, people with statutory health insurance can receive psychotherapeutic treatment in individual and group therapies at the institute's outpatient clinic. On the other hand, around half of the 166 graduates who have qualified in Oldenburg to date have a contract with a statutory health insurance provider in north-west Lower Saxony and Bremen. In addition, graduates also make a significant contribution to the care of mentally ill people as employed psychotherapists in clinics and other institutions.
