Anxiety in all its facets, from illness-related real fear to neurotic anxiety fuelled by life history, is therefore an essential topic of supportive psychotherapy. In addition, the inherent dynamics of a serious physical illness can also confront the treating psychotherapist with existential fears that require special care and self-care. The workshop "Dealing with disease-specific fears in the context of psychotherapy using the example of cancer" will deal with this topic.
The workshop will take place on Saturday, 12 November 2016 from 10:00 to 17:30 in the library hall of the University of Oldenburg.
The lecturer Dr Susanne Wittorf, a psychological psychotherapist in private practice, specialises in psycho-oncology. She also works as a lecturer in depth psychology-based psychotherapy at various further education institutes, including the Centre for Lifelong Learning (C3L) at the University of Oldenburg, the University of Osnabrück and the Psychosocial Oncology further education programme at Heidelberg University Hospital (WPO e.V.).
The event is part of the series "Impulses for further thinking in therapy and counselling". Under the scientific direction of Priv.-Doz. Dr Joseph Rieforth, it is being developed and organised by the Counselling and Conflict Resolution and Psychotherapy and University Outpatient Clinics departments of the Centre for Lifelong Learning (C3L).
