At the beginning of the year, Prof Dr Paul Mecheril's theses at the Bremen University Senate's New Year's reception kick-started the debate on the topic of refugees. Now those interested in Oldenburg also have the opportunity to get to know his theses and analyses:
The university professor and director of the Center for Migration, Education and Cultural Studies (CMC) will speak on 22 February 2016 from 18:00 (c.t.) in the library hall of the university on Uhlhornsweg on the topic of "Flight conditions in Europe: Desperate modernity and its demonisation".
Almost 60 million people worldwide are currently on the run and living under extremely difficult and sometimes life-threatening conditions.
The lecture will look at the most recent media, political and everyday treatment of this situation in German-speaking countries.
What is the function of the demonic sexualisation of others?
This and other questions will be explored in Paul Mecheril's public lecture, which is organised by the C3L - Centre for Lifelong Learning. Admission is free.
