"Diverse Reflections of Consciousness... - World Literature in the Modern Age" is the topic of the series of lectures on philosophy in the summer semester. The series begins on Monday, 9 April at 10.00 a.m. in the university library hall (Haarentor campus, Uhlhornsweg 49 - 55) with Prof. Dr Dieter Lamping from the University of Mainz. His lecture entitled "What is world literature? Thoughts after Goethe" will introduce the topic.
The series of lectures, coordinated by Prof Dr Matthias Bormuth from the Institute of Philosophy, comprises a total of twelve lectures. It not only provides insights into selected works of world literature by Virginia Woolf, Elias Canetti and James Joyce, for example, but also looks at the disruption of modern Western society depicted therein from a cultural philosophical perspective.
The series of events is a co-operation between the Institute of Philosophy and the C3L - Centre for Lifelong Learning in conjunction with the Karl Jaspers Society. Interested parties from the region are invited to attend the lectures as guest auditors or members of the Karl Jaspers Society.
