The C3L - Centre for Lifelong Learning at the University of Oldenburg has acquired a new project "Development of further education in the hydrogen economy for subjects and managers". Green hydrogen will develop its market potential in various sectors over the next ten years and will therefore be an important building block for the success of the energy transition in many industries. The development of a green hydrogen economy will require competent subjects and managers in all areas along the value chains as well as in politics and administration. At present, there are hardly any specialised courses for the hydrogen economy and only a few specialists with the appropriate qualifications. The German Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association expects up to 70,000 additional jobs and an increasing demand for skilled labour nationwide by 2030.

In autumn 2022, a new further education programme is to be launched as part of the project and will provide subjects and managers in the industry with new know-how on H2 technologies, components, fields of application, value chains, politics, law and project management. With this project, the University of Oldenburg is targeting employees in public institutions and administration, industry, consulting, banks and insurance companies who make decisions about and support hydrogen projects.

The project is funded by the Ministry of Science and Culture of Lower Saxony and the economic development agencies of the Hanover region and the city of Oldenburg. Leibniz Universität Hannover and the Energie-Forschungszentrum Niedersachsen are involved as partners.
