What skills are needed for a crisis-resilient energy supply? A new project by C3L and the professorship for Innovation and Sustainability is assessing the needs and current provision of skills development programmes in Lower Saxony.

How can specialists and managers help to make the energy system more resilient to crises? The project “Resilience Skills for a Crisis-Resilient Energy System in Lower Saxony” is investigating which skills companies, network operators, public administration, policymakers and academia need to effectively address the challenges posed by climate change, cyber-attacks, geopolitical crises and other disruptions. Based on literature reviews, expert interviews and stakeholder workshops, the project is developing a scientifically sound skills catalogue and a further education map for Lower Saxony. The aim is to identify skills requirements, systematically categorise existing training programmes and provide impetus for new continuing professional development formats. In this way, the project aims to strengthen the resilience of the energy system and lay the foundations for innovative training programmes. The project is aimed at specialists and managers from energy companies, network operators, public administration, politics and academia, as well as at universities and further education institutions seeking to develop future-proof training programmes for resilient energy systems. The project is managed by the Lower Saxony Energy Research Centre (efzn).
