Making the right decisions

Rational and conscious decision-making

Every day, we all make a large number of conscious or unconscious decisions - both in our professional and private lives. Academic appointments in particular increasingly have to be made "under time pressure". In addition, there are decision-making situations in which a "multitude of alternatives" have to be evaluated. The conscious organisation of decision-making processes is therefore also becoming an important key resource against the backdrop of digital transformation in companies.

Decision theory is concerned with how decisions can be made and how they are actually made. Central questions are why we often find it so difficult to make decisions in reality and what influence our thoughts and emotions have on decisions.

When the skills training programme begins, the learning materials will be made available via our learning platform, C3LLO, where they can be viewed at any time. The content of the learning materials forms the (knowledge) basis for the workshop, which takes place at the University of Oldenburg on the C3L campus. Following the workshop, a transfer task must be completed. The online phases before and after the workshop (input and transfer) are designed to be asynchronous, i.e. participants can organise their time freely within the given framework. For reading the learning materials, participating in the workshop and successfully completing the transfer task, you should estimate a total workload of around 60 hours, most of which can be flexibly distributed over the six-week period.
